I've only tried the two games' single-player campaigns (BF3 and MW3) and I have to say that despite BF3 being very well developed and more focused on the characters, it feels incredibly repetitive. "Oh, another ambush with lots of guys running out of the forest. Here we go again." -- that's a common line that pops up in my head whilst playing. MW3, despite being repetitive in its unwillingness to update the engine, has a more varied and fun single-player campaign.
Then again, I recognize the need to play the multi-player part of both games in order to fully appreciate them!
