Why Counter Strike?

What I would like to know is why you started playing CS? When and how and why did you start? Did someone advise this game to you?

I started playing this game (I think) almost 5 years ago. First I tried out 1.6, because I did not want to pay for the game and I played on non-steam servers. My cousin was playing it and I was like "wow, this looks epic" and then I also tried a bit. 1.6 is a bit more difficult game to master, so soon I realized that I suck real bad at it so I gave up the game for a few months.
Later I found out a guy from my university was selling Steam accounts with CS Source on it. I bought an account with this game and what do you know, my gaming days started.
From time to time I was like on crack, I played until 4-5 am and all I could think of all day was of playing Counter Strike.
I was mostly playing on Estonian servers and mostly on de_dust2 (epic.. oldschool..epic). Months later i became a regular on GE breakfloor. I think I got to rank 11 or something (I actually really played a lot there).
Somewhat later I found out about Dream Evil. There were Chasin's and Quizz'ez and more weird names, who I do not see in-game anymore.

And that is my story, the story of Ewil.

I first played CS at a internet café here in Stockholm (the largest in Europe) and I realized how simple it was made but still so easy and fun to play. I bought the game a couple of days later and as the random dude above^ said, we shared my account for a while which got him to play the game too.

My cousin brought me into it, I was a Battlefield player(and still is), and I found it amusing because it was so simple compared to BF. I discovered that grenades were reliable as accuracy weapons and the guns didnt have any recoil.

Dunno, why or how I found it fun tho.

Compared to BF, to be frank, it truly can be an easy game in the hands of a master.

Yup, but I think it's easier to get kills in Call of Duty than it is in Counter Strike, that's why I like this game. It's also nice and simple with hundreds of mods and thousands of servers! :D

I have no idea how I started, but I have played since '04. I found Dream-Evil a couple of years ago because I was a member of WildFire and I played hell alot of Breakfloor.

I found my way to cs 1.6 about my brothers when I was 13. They had 2 accounts and so they were playing on a lan-server. Firstly, I was playing cs rarely, like at most once in a months. Of course only with my brother lan and mostly pool_day or crazyjump =P
This is my story for around 2 years.

After that time Ive created my own account. Ive started playing source for (Im not sure) a year, because I had no 1.6 at this account? But I didnt like source as much as 1.6 . So, after a year or so, I let my brother buy 1.6 for me. Ive played 1.6 for 1-2 year/s as often as I was able to - sometimes more than 6 hours a day. These 2 years were rats-years for me. I became admin on another rats_2k4 server and since that time Im mostly to find at 2k4 =P Since end 2009 I cant play cs 1.6 that often anymore, and actually I dont want to =P
Ive got cs-weekends when I play 5-7 hours a day, but often I cant find the time..

I love 1.6, because its, as already said, simple. Its one of the only games that just make fun while playing, for years. Its not that "real" like cod or so. I dont need to play more "real" games, there are enough wars in real life =O And I dont like playing games with much blood and body parts flying around -.-

best regards,

Flubbel

If there would be a "like" button here, I'd like Flubbels thoughts about there being enough real wars out there.
